This weekend was brought to you by the letter "S"

S is for Sick: J finally caught the bug. He has been down and out since Friday evening; poor kid. If he doesn't improve tomorrow I will take him into get checked. D is just finishing up antibiotics for strep. Don't want to bring any sick germs down south with us.

S is for Surfing: The boys and I had a surf lesson booked on Saturday but just D and I went. D wanted to bail on the class too because he was tired; he had a sleepover at a buddies house Friday night (why bother calling it a sleepover when there is not much sleeping?) After getting the wet suits on (so exhausting... glad I only had one kid to help get geared up) he was just beaming when he got into the water. He had never worn a wet suit before and could not understand how it would keep him warm (NO, he did not pee in it either!) Turns out he still has the moves... it has been a few years since he surfed in Hawaii. He caught the wave and rode it to the beach with a big grin and his red cheeks popping out of his seal-suit. There is quite the group of locals that are surfing North Beach so we will have to look into getting our own gear and join the fun.

S is for Sew: Today was my last full day I had free to get the boys button blankets done. I think I worked on them for about 8 hrs straight. Thankfully I did not run out of thread, fabric or yarn this time. I still have tonnes of buttons to sew on but I have 3 evenings, 7 hrs on the ferry and 2 days of driving to get that done.

S is for Snow: It snowed today. I am starting to get a bit anxious about the weather and road conditions for the drive south. I think we will take the ferry from Rupert to Pt Hardy if the forecast sounds bad.

S is for Soup: With no food in the cupboards, soup was an easy dinner. I made a pot of chicken noodle soup and broccoli soup to help my J feel better :)

We are getting ready for our trip south... back to the homeland. The first time heading back to visit friends and family. My brother has done it for years, living in TO and coming to Van to see us all. Now we are the visitors. I feel like we will be looking though a window at our former life (my 'city life' I call it) but now from a different perspective. We will jump on the crazy train, fasten our seatbelts, and tie up our running shoes for 3 weeks to see you all and then escape back here to stroll down the mossy trail, check the tide, and wear our rubber boots (sometimes even with shorts on!)
